After years of lobbying, especially by
  • the British (NALGO),
  • the German (ÖTV) and
  • the Dutch (Abvakabo)
lesbian and gay trade union groups, their representatives in Public Services International at PSI's 25th Congress in Helsinki (Finland) in August, 1993, recognized that the struggle against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, when it comes to the labour market, is also a task for trade unions.
