Dennis de Jong


Dennis de JiongDennis de Jong (Delft, the Netherlands, 1955) studied private law and public law and specialised in public international law at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He also earned a masters' degree in economics (specialisation in political economy), a masters in political sciences, international relations and a Ph.D. in international human rights legislation.
He was worked for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1979 - 1983), the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (1983 - 1987), the Dutch Ministry of Justice (1987 - 1993), the European Commission (1993 - 1996), the Netherlands Permanent Representation in the European Union (1996 - 1998), again for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998/1999), and Justice (1999 - 2002), and Foreign Affairs (2002 - 2009).

From 2009 onwards, Dennis de Jong has been a member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Socialistische Partij of the Netherlands.

Dennis de Jong participated in one of the panel discussions at the Antwerp conference.
