Gordon Dunbar


Gordon DunbarGordon Dunbar (Canada) studied at the University of Guelph (BA Psychology and French, 1988 – 1991) and at the York University B Ed, Education 1992 – 1993). He became teacher at the Upper Grand District School Board in 1990, a position which he still holds and combines with other activities: as a researcher, coach, author and community activist. His articles include subjects such as Anti-bullying education, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C community engagement, LGBTIQ inclusiveness in sport education and Human rights. He is a former chair of the LGBT Standing Committee in the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (2009 - 2010).

Gordon Dunbar is now director of GLISA International and GLISA North America from 2010 onwards. In 2011, he also became co-chair of PrideHouseTO, an LGBTI sports pavilion for the XVII Pan Para American Games to be held in Toronto, Canada in 2015.
He is a long standing member of Downtown Soccer Toronto and was awarded by his peers the 2012 Gary Manz Award for "great dedication and voluntarism towards gay sport". His other sporting interests include rappelling scuba diving, cross country skiing and weight lifting.
