Ivan Denis Ivan Denis (Belgium, 1991) started an archery career at the age of 11, and became junior world champion in 2009. In 2008, he joined the Belgian armed Forces as a sportsman. As an openly gay sportsman, he is ambassador to the World OutGames in Antwerp 2013. Together with his partner Bram Bierkens he is also involved in activities such as the organisation of the Mr. Gay Falnders election. Ivan Denis participated in the panel discussion on sports and culture as a vehicles of rights, at the Antwerp conference. A few days later, after having launched the start of the OutGames with his arch, he won a bronze medal at the Games, and announced that although he had be preparing for the Olympic Games, he would quit the tournament arena for archery, at least for a while. |
