Jean-Yves Duthel


Jean-Yves Duthel was born in Alsace (France) and graduated in political sciences at the Strassbourg University. He migrated to Québec (Canada) in 1972. Since then he worked mainly in the political domain as well as in the field of LGBT rights. He was a member of several ministerial cabinets in Québec and is especially proud to have been the coordinator of the LGBT Human rights conference at the Montréal World Outgames in 2006, in which 1600 people from all over the world participated. Duthel created his own PR firm - PHILEAR - with contracts in the private sector. In February 2010 he accepted a full-time mandate of Daniel Gibbs- at that time First vice-president of the Overseas Territorial Community of Saint-Martin -- of special councillor. He became director of the new political movement Union pour la Démocratie, founded by Gibbs, in March 2011. This UD became the official opposition in the Territorial Island Council at the 25th of March 2012 elections.

Jean-Yves Duthel went back to Montreal in May 2012.
He is an acting consultant in the PR and political field.
Together with his partner for 40 years, he has three now adult children. Recently he published a book Two men and three cradles.

Jean-Yves Duthel acted as co-chair of the Antwerp conference.
