Susan Milner


Susan Milner Susan Milner (ICF external expert) is Associate Professor in European Politics at the University of Bath, UK.
Her research examines the impact of policy on work organisations, households and individuals. She is particularly interested in policy outcomes which affect gender relations and gender equality.
In 2015 - 2016 she was associate researcher with a French team carrying out a major analysis of gender equality plans and agreements, which fed into a change of government policy in 2018. Previously she has examined how work-family policies are implemented at work, focusing particularly on fathers and their take-up of paternity and parental leave policies as well as flexible and other working practices.
Her research has been funded by the AHRC, British Academy, British Council, ESRC, the French government and French family benefits agency, and the Big Lottery.

She has recently currently leads a GW4 (South-West England and south Wales region) consortium investigating actions to tackle gender pay gaps. Susan is associate editor of the international journal Gender, Work & Organization and guest editor of a special issue of Gender, Work & Organization, to appear as issue 5 in 2019, on actions to challenge gender pay gaps.
In 2017 - 2018 she was a member of the steering committee of Business in the Community's project Equal Lives. Currently a member of the Government Equalities Office's WAGE network of academics.
