HistoryIn 1998, the Education International World Congress passed a resolution on the "Protection of the rights of lesbian and gay education personnel". The resolution required the application and evaluation of LGBT rights among member organizations. 1998 was also the year of the Gay Games in Amsterdam. A couple of Dutch trade unionists, supported by British, German, Italian, unionists and financial aid from a number of organisations, used this opportunity to organise as a side-event the first ever world-scale internationbal conference on Trade Unions, Homosexuality and Work.
